Tabby Tab
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Tabby Tab (“we,” “us”) operates the Tabby Tab mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Phone number — to create your account and sign you in.
- Name and profile details — such as your display name and optional Venmo handle for payment texts you send to friends.
- Photos — receipt images for bill splitting, optional profile and table photos, and photos you choose from your library.
- Contacts (optional) — only if you grant permission, to search your address book on your device when you add people to a split. We do not upload your contact list to our servers.
- Bill and social data — receipt details, item assignments, tab history, friend connections, and in-app notifications.
- Device and usage data — basic technical information needed to run the app and our servers (for example, app version and request logs).
How we use information
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Read receipt line items and calculate splits
- Save and sync your tabs across devices
- Let you add friends and share tabs with people at your table
- Send payment reminder texts you choose to send (via the native Messages app)
- Improve reliability and fix bugs
What we do not do
- We do not access your Venmo account or move money for you.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Third-party services
We use trusted providers to run the app, including:
- Google Firebase — phone number authentication (SMS verification codes)
- Google Cloud — hosting, database, and photo storage for receipts and profile images
- Receipt reading (OCR) — to extract line items from receipt photos you upload
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service. They are not allowed to use your data for their own marketing.
How long we keep data
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the app. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records for security, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
Your choices
- Permissions — you can deny camera, photo library, or contacts access in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without them.
- Profile privacy — you can control whether friends see your dining activity in the app.
- Account deletion — delete your account anytime in Settings → Account → Delete account.
Children
Tabby Tab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. Material changes may also be described in our Terms of Service.
